The promised playable demo of WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos is now available, allowing you to sample this 3D real-time strategy game by Blizzard.

The demo features three new single-player missions chronicling the Orcs journey from Lordaeron to Kalimdor, along with three new multiplayer maps playable through Battle.net. Go here, here, here, here or here to download (104MB).

Infogrames has released an updated editor version for Southlogic Studios' hunting sim, Trophy Hunter 2003. No details are given on what was changed or fixed. Download the editor here (9.5MB).

Microsoft has released a playable demo of MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries, allowing you to try this 3D mech action game by Cyberlore and FASA Studios. This new episode in the MechWarrior series features "a popular gun-for-hire theme with a dynamic storyline and several features never before seen in the MechWarrior universe." After 3 long months of development, ProMod 3.0 has finally been released! ProMod 3.0 is the first class based mod for Jedi Outcast. This dynamic classing system allows you to choose between a Jedi, who specializes in Force Powers, a Gunner, who's forte is the use of projectile weapons and gadgets like the new jetpack, or a custom Hybrid class that allow you to mix the abilities of both. The debut release of the Dark Forces Jedi Knight II MOD is now available, featuring a remake of the Secret Base level from Dark Forces, the original Star Wars first-person shooter. The download is available as a single file for broadband users, and split into three sections for those using modems. Go here to download (30MB).

There is a new patch for Hegemonia: Legions of Iron, bringing the German edition of this 3D space strategy game by Digital Reality to version 1.04. This release fixes the F4 shortcut crash, in-game ships menu crash, some AI issues in single-player, and other minor bugs. Go here to download.

New patches for Platoon have been released, upgrading the US edition of Digital Reality's recent 3D tactical strategy game to version 1.12 and, oddly, two kinds of international editions to version 1.1e and 1.1u. This release addresses a display resolution problem, multiplayer desync issues, and a gameplay problem with the APC vehicle. Go here for the patches.

Rather than an anticipated demo, Activision has released the intro movie trailer of Star Trek Starfleet Command III, the new 3D tactical starship combat sequel by Taldren. This movie sports some two minutes of cinematic footage (with Patrick Stewart voice-over) to introduce the game's premise. Go here for the movie.

This update for the Attack of the Silver Ball demo takes the it to 1.3, the same as the full version. Among the fixes are the ATI bug during setup, which would cause a "flicker" effect. The camera bug fixes from 1.2 are also included. Go here to download (33MB).

Empire Interactive has issued new patches for Total Immersion Racing, upgrading the recent racing simulation by RazorWorks. This release fixes issues with replays, controllers in two-player mode, force feedback on some controller wheels, and a DirectX 8.2 warning and is available for the US and European version of the game.
