Epic Games has issued a new patch for the Mac OS X version of Unreal Tournament 2003. It addresses several crash bugs, color problems on ATI video cards, issues with running some mods, and more. You can download it here.

Termite Games ha issued the v1.5 patches for the retail and demo version of their team-based tactical shooter, New World Order. This new version contains several major brand new features: player leaning, different rates of fire for weapons, bind commands and weather effects (rain) in selected maps. Following on yesterday's English edition, Gearbox Software has now released the German, French, Italian and Spanish standalone multiplayer editions of Halo: Combat Evolved, their sci-fi 3D action game. DreamCatcher has issued the eagerly anticipated v1.15 patch for Painkiller. It adds a new map called DM_Cursed as well as single and multiplayer bugfixes/improvements.

According to Apple these patches fix minor problems, but they recommend to download and apply them immediately. A security firm (Secunia) has however expressed concerns that the vulnerabilities could be extremely serious. They've given the 5 patches a "highly critical" rating and warned that they may allow hijacking, security bypass, data manipulation, privilege escalation, denial of service and system access. Freeform Interactive has released the full v2.0.5 version and patches of Purge Jihad. This new release fixes a several minor UI bugs and adds localization support along with more balance tweaks and miscellaneous bug fixes. Go here or here to download.

Kuma Reality Games has released an updated client for their recent reality-based 3D tactical action game, Kuma War. This version contains only one mission to make for a smaller initial download, as subsequent missions (and intro movies) are now downloaded on demand via the auto-updater, while the client and updater have also been made more robust and user-friendly. eMule is a new filesharing client which is based on the eDonkey2000 network, but offers more features than the standard eDonkey client, because it's opensource but under the restrictions of the GPL License. You can download the new release here (3.35MB).

As previously announced, the Halo Custom Edition is now available for download, providing the promised stand-alone multiplayer version of Halo: Combat Evolved that adds a bunch of new features, and support for user-created content which can be created with the Halo Editing Kit. Take 2 has released the v1.04 beta patch for PopTop's building/management sequel, Railroad Tycoon 3. This release fixes some single and mutliplayer bugs and in particular a nasty bug with NVidia cards 5.XX drivers. Download the patch here, here, here or here (2MB).
