Amsterdam, January 7th 2004
In July of 1999 I was on holiday on Gran Canaria (had a great time but I will spare you all the raunchy details :) ). One night I was at a pub in the Kasbah with my mates when I found a disposable camera. It still had some shots left on the roll so I took it and used up the remaining photos. Later when I returned to the Netherlands I had the film developed. There were 18 pictures taken by the previous owners of the camera, a group of (I guess) British girls. I remember thinking how pissed off they must have been when they discovered that their holiday pictures were lost. Anyway, for obvious reasons, the pictures ended up on my "did not quite make it to the photo album"-stack of pictures where they have been ever since. That is until, as a sort of new years resolution, I decided to throw away some of the stuff I wasn't using anymore and I once again discovered the pictures. I figured that with everybody today being on the Internet it should be possible to find the original owner of these photos and return them. I mean, if I had lost my holiday pictures I would like them to be returned too. Being bored anyway, I scanned some of the photos and made this page as an experiment to find out if finding some random strangers from old vacation photos through the Internet will actually work. So, if the pictures on the right (click for the larger versions) are yours then please contact me through email and I will return them to you so you can finally fill that blank space in your photo album :) PS. Since I'm quite lazy I hope that people visiting this page will help me 'spread the word'. Just think about what a cool weblog-entry, forumpost or email-message this could be, you will be the envy of your friends! :) PS2. Be cool! Sign my guestbook! Whoa! More than a year has passed and the photo's still haven't been claimed, maybe this won't work after all. Anyway, even if I don't find the owners of these pictures I'm still having fun, looking through the Google search queries is f*cking hilarious and provides me with a good source of entertainment. Here are some of my favourites:
Oh yeah, for those of you that are actually looking for pictures of Gran Canaria, as you can see I have added some of my pictures from Gran Canaria to the left (click for larger versions). It's not much, because most of my pictures have me in them and I really enjoy my relative anonymity on the Internet. Hypocritical ain't it? Considering that I am publishing strangers' pictures for all to see, but hey, I don't care. Update June 6th 2005 Woohoo! My girlfriend and I will be going to Gran Canaria on June 12th. Sun, fun and San Miguels, I can see it already. Anyway, I decided to update the page a little. I changed the color scheme, removed the poll (you pessimists!) and also removed all the lame keywords because they were drawing the wrong crowd (see my March 7th update if you don't know what I mean). PS. If you happen to be in the Playa del Ingles area next week and are planning on losing something, please make sure that it's your wallet and not your camera (unless it's one of them nice digital ones). I can always use some extra cash and I don't really feel like making another page like this one ;) |
